Paul Strong

Technical Director at the CTO office, Google Cloud

Paul Strong is a member of the Google Cloud CTO Office. Paul helps connect Google with its enterprise customers, advising them in their digital transformation, in areas ranging from thought leadership, vision and strategy, to application and infrastructure transformation.

Before joining Google Paul was Field CTO at VMware for 6 years, one of which he also served as interim corporate CTO. Prior to VMware, Paul spent many years designing or building distributed systems and the tools to manage them, including 5 years at eBay as a Distinguished Research Scientist, and 8 years at Sun Microsystems.

In addition to his day job(s), Paul has also led a number of standards and industry consortia, and acts as a consultant or advisor to various bodies, ranging from startups, to $100B businesses, to governments.  In his somewhat limited spare time he is overrun by his children, and aspires to be a musician.
